Illini Soccer Holds Hawkeyes Scoreless in Draw

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Illinois soccer (3-1-5, 0-1-2 B1G) held Iowa (5-2-3, 0-1-2 B1G) scoreless in their draw on Friday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
Izzy Lee made eight saves tonight to post her sixth shutout of the season already and 21 for her career which is the third-most in program history. Her most impactful save came in the 84th minute when Hawkeye striker Samantha Reimer hit a diving header to the top left of the net which Lee jumped up to snatch at the last second and preserve the shutout.
Illinois registered two shots on goal with the first chance coming in the 27th minute on a spinning individual effort from Ashlyn Adams that saw her get free to rip a shot to the lower left corner of the frame. Alyssa White had a chance in the 58th minute from the top of the box off a crossing pass from Hedda Ornberg.
The five ties are now a school record for Illinois with four of them being scoreless, also the program's most.
The Orange and Blue soccer crew is off for nearly a week before they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on rival Purdue on Thursday (Sept. 24) at 6 p.m. CT.
