
Illini Record Scoreless Draw Against UIC

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois soccer (1-0-2) recorded a scoreless draw against UIC (0-2-2) on Sunday Night in Demirjian Park.
Izzy Lee made three saves to keep her second clean sheet of the season. Hedda Ornberg made her first start as an Illini tonight where she led the team in shots with six and had three shots on goal.
Ryleigh Wood generated the best chance of the match in the 53rd minute when she got in all alone on a deep pass. She ripped a shot but the UIC keeper, Sidney Lazenby, came off her line to close the angle and make the stop.
Freshmen Abby Anderson and Avia Hughes each made their Illini debuts today. Illinois outshot the Flames tonight 16-6 with a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Tonight's attendance was 1,088.
The Illini continue the season at home for the fourth-straight match on Thursday (Aug. 27) when they take on Saint Louis at 6 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
