CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois women's golf is heading to Sarasota, Fla., to compete at the Spartan Suncoast Invitational, Feb. 15-16. The tournament will be held at the Palm Aire Country Club.
THE COURSE
The tournament will take place on the Palm Aire Champions Course. Originally designed in 1957 by Dick Wilson, the course underwent a tee to green renovation in 2021, led by course architect Michael J. Benusky. The competition is set up for a par 72 and will play 6,191 yards.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Both days of play will commence with a shotgun start at 7:15 a.m. CT. Sunday features 36 holes of continuous play and Monday will conclude the tournament with the final 18 holes.
THE FIELD
Along with the Orange and Blue, the 15-team field also features host Michigan State, Purdue, Maryland, Michigan, Iowa, Northwestern, Ohio State, Kentucky, Clemson, Oklahoma, Kent State, FIU, Princeton, and College of Charleston. 12 of the 15 teams are ranked among the top 60 in the latest NCAA rankings, including Illinois at 48th.

ILLINI AT THE SPARTAN SUNCOAST
The Illini competed at the Spartan Suncoast for the first time last season, with Victoria Zheng, Brielle Mapanao, and Anna Ritter returning from the 2025 lineup. The team finished in eighth place, carding a 54-hole team total of 874 (+10). Ritter finished tied for ninth at the tournament, with a 215 (-1) overall.

UP NEXT
Following the action in Florida, the Illini head to Humble, Texas, for the Chevron Collegiate, Feb. 23-24. The tournament will be hosted at the Golf Club of Houston.
