ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Izzy Lee has been named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday (Oct. 20). Lee earned this recognition after her eight-save performance against Nebraska to keep her eighth clean sheet of the season, the second most in the Big Ten.
Her eight saves moved her up to second all-time on the program's career saves list with 297 as she passes Claire Wheatley who made 292 saves from 2013-16. She only trails the program record of 368 set by Lisha Alcia in 2001-04. On the season so far, she's made 73 saves which leads the Big Ten and has an average of 4.87 saves per game which also is the conference leader.
This is the third time this season she's been named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week as she was previously named it on Sept. 8 and Aug. 18. She's now the fourth player in school history to earn a Big Ten weekly award three times in a single season joining Vanessa DiBernardo (2010), Ella Masar (2007) and Alcia (2003).
