CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois swimming and diving team returns to action this weekend as they face off with Southern Illinois and Illinois State on Friday, and the swimmers facing Vanderbilt on Saturday. The contest in Carbondale Friday will begin at 5 p.m CT, and in Nashville Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT

The Illini split their tri-meet, beating UIC 230-70, and losing to Northwestern 99-197. Abby Cabush and Lily Olson led the way with first place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 50 Freestyle, respectively.

SCOUTING THE SALUKIS

The Salukis enter this weekend with a 2-1 record, with a 4th place team finish at the CSCAA Open Water Championships. Their last appearance occurred last weekend, with a  95-145 loss to the Missouri Tigers. In our last face off with SIU, the Illinois Fighting Illini were victorious, 176-123. The Fighting Illini have a 7-2 all-time record against the Southern Illinois Salukis.

SCOUTING THE REDBIRDS

The Illinois State Redbirds have only competed once this season, in a 155-144 win against the Evansville Aces. The Fighting Illini last faced the Redbirds on  October 17th of 2019, having a dominant win of 210-90. Abigail Cabush placed first in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:52.41.

SCOUTING THE COMMODORES

Vanderbilt enters this weekend with a 2-1 record, splitting their tri-meet with Arkansas and Drury, beating Arkansas. This past weekend, the Commodores outscored Florida Gulf Coast University 151-143. This is the first meeting between the Fighting Illini swimmers and the Commodores.
