
Illinois Cross Country Set for NCAA Pre-Nationals in Tallahassee

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross country teams are set to travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet on Friday, October 15. The meet will start with the men's 8k, which begins at 7 a.m. CT, followed by the women's 6k, which begins at 7:35 a.m. CT. The Illini will race 11 on the women's side and ten on the men's side.

Notes
- Graduate student Jon Davis earned a runner-up finish in the men's 5-mile blue race at the Joe Piane Invite in South Bend, Ind. on October 1. Davis took home second place in a 180-person field, finishing with a time of 23:11.6.
- Senior Emma Milburn led the way for the Illini women's squad at the Joe Piane Invite on October 1, finishing in 49th with a time of 17:02.3 in the 5k.
- Graduate student Jon Davis took home a first-place finish at the Red Bird Invite in Normal, Ill. on September 17. Davis finished the men's 8000-meter with a time of 23:22.8, breaking the previous Illinois State 8000-meter course record of 23:48.
- On September 22, Jon Davis earned Big Ten cross country Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Red Bird Invite, where he finished the men's 8k with a time of 23:22.8, setting a new 8000-meter course record.
- The Illinois women's cross country team is currently ranked 4th in the Midwest region in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA DI rankings.
- Both the men's and women's teams took home first place finishes at the Red Bird Invite in Normal, Ill. on September 17. The men's squad had four top-ten finishers, while the women had three.
- Senior Emma Milburn earned a runner-up finish in her first race of the season at the Red Bird Invite on September 17, finishing with a time of 20:37.7 in the women's 6000-meter race.
- Freshman Margaret Gamboa was impressive in her first collegiate race at the EIU Walt Crawford Open, earning a runner-up finish with a time of 17:39.62 in the women's 5000-meter race.
