CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men's and women's cross-country teams are prepared for the Gans Creek Classic on Friday (Sept. 25) in Columbia, Mo. The women's 6k will start at 8 a.m. CT, and the men's 8k will begin at 8:45 a.m. CT.
The Illini finished the Fighting Illini Invitational in first place for both the men and women with great performances. Kennady Anderson led the women's team, finishing second with a time of 13:25.6. Two new transfers were next to cross for Illinois, first with Abbi Steiner, who took sixth (13:47.7), and following right behind was Olivia Haas, placing seventh (13:47.7) to be in the top-3 for the Illini women's team.
On the men's side, a transfer from Colorado Wilson Georges led the Illini, getting first place with an official time of 17:56.3. Not even a second later was Trey Sato who secured second place with a 17:56.8 finishing time and in third was Illini newcomer Frank Buchanan, giving Illinois the 1-2-3 finish with his time of 17:57.7.
