Final Results
EVANSTON, Ill. – The Illinois swimming and diving team split its first road meet of the season defeating UIC (207-92), while coming up short to host Northwestern (192-107), Saturday afternoon in Evanston, Ill. The Illini were led by senior Kristin Anderson, who won both 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, posting a time of :23.57 and :51.90, respectively.
"The quick turnaround from Friday night to Saturday morning was a great test for the team," said head coach Sue Novitsky. "Overall we competed strong for the two days and never backed down from the challenge. The whole team was engaged and focused. We will get back to work on Monday and keep working on taking steps forward."
Sophomore Abigail Cabush came away with a victory in 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:52.31. The Sussex, Wis., native also finished third in 100 freestyle (:52.55).  Junior Michelle McCord picked a pair of third-place finishes in 200 breaststroke (2:24.92) and in 200 individual medley (2:09.71).
Senior Jamie Kolar placed third with a time of 2:03.36 in 200 backstroke. Junior Emma Curtis and sophomore Sarah Cano came away with third-place finishes of their own. Curtis clocked a time of :24.40 in the 50 freestyle, while Cano touched the wall in the 100 backstroke with a time of :57.11.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Cabush, freshman Isabelle Guerra, Curtis, and Anderson, secured a second place finish for the Orange and Blue, posting a time of 3:31.87.
On the Boards
Sophomore Taylor Shegos posted the top score of 278.80 in 1-meter diving competition and placed fourth in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 229.35. Sophomore Madelyn Crosby took fourth in the 1-meter and fifth in the 3-meter, earning scores of 241.20 and 225.50 in the events, respectively.

The Illini are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the ARC Pool, as they host both Southern Illinois and Illinois State at 5 p.m. CT. The meet will mark the annual Paint the Pool Pink event.
