CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -Ā A week after facing off against Southern Illinois and Illinois State, the Fighting Illini swimming and diving team will see more in-state competition, as Illinois travels to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern, UIC and the University of Chicago on Friday, October 26. Meet action is set to begin at 5 p.m. CT.
Northwestern
The Wildcats enter the weekend after a tough challenge against No. 3 Michigan a week ago. Although Michigan came away with the 182-118 victory, NU was led by Calypso Sheridan, as the sophomore brought home individual wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of :54.24 and 1:58.66, respectively.
On the boards, senior Olivia Rosendahl won 1-meter diving with a six-dive total of 281.92.
UIC
UIC came up short to Indiana State, 178.5-121.5, in its only dual meet of the season thus far. The Flames were led by Lexie Joy and Cydney Liebenberg. Joy won the 100 freestyle with a pool record time of :52.66, as well as the 200 freestyle (1:53.18) and 200 individual medley (2:08.05), while Liebenberg posted the top scores in 1-meter (264.23) and 3-meter (281.02) diving.
University of Chicago
Friday's meet will be the season opener for the Maroons, who finished 14th out of 48 at the NCAA Division III Championships a year ago. The team welcomes back nine swimmers that earned Honorable Mention All-America status, including Hannah Eastman, Simone Stover, Daria Wick, Nicole Garcia, Hadley Ackerman, Gillian Gagnard, Nicole Lin, Nadia Redza and Margaret Wolfson.
Agnes Lo leads the way for the Maroons in diving competition, as the junior holds all four school records on both 1-meter and 3-meter diving (6 dive total and 11 dive total).
