Smith is a graduate of Ohio University and received a bachelor's degree in sport management.  

Past Experience: 
Smith joined the Fighting Illini after graduating from Ohio University in May 2024. During his time at Ohio, he served as a property assistant in the Learfield office for the 2023–24 season and contributed to the university’s marketing department. Reed also gained valuable experience working at The Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio. 

Personal: 
Reed grew up in Lancaster, Ohio, where his family still resides.
