Kyle Ranson is in his first season with the Illinois football program in 2026. He was hired in June 2026 as the Fighting Illini's Assistant Director of Football Video.
In his role with the Illini, Ranson assists in all day-to-day video operations, including opponent scouting video for coach and student-athlete review, recruiting film, and management of the student assistants staff.
Ranson brings a wealth of college football knowledge with him to Champaign, including experience in both the Big Ten and Southeastern Conferences. He joins the Orange and Blue after most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Football Technology at James Madison during the Dukes' 2026 spring football season.
Before his time at JMU, Ranson spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons at Michigan State as the Spartans' Assistant Director of Football Technology. This followed a two-year run as a Video Assistant with the Florida Gators during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Prior to joining the Gators in April 2022, Ranson served as a student video assistant at Eastern Michigan while earning his bachelor of science in sport management from 2017-21.
