Education:
Mattie graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in journalism and technical communications with an emphasis in public relations.

Responsibilities:
Mattie is the secondary media contact for Illinois football and men's basketball, and the primary contact for Illini men's golf. He previously served as the primary contact for U of I women’s basketball.

Past Experience:
Mattie is a veteran sports publicist. At Colorado State, he spent more than nine years on the Rams’ Athletics Communication staff, serving as the primary contact for a variety of assigned sports, including six seasons as the contact for the CSU men’s basketball program.

A native of Trinidad, Colorado, Mattie worked as a communications specialist for OBFS Business Solutions and Support with the University of Illinois System from 2018-20. He also had experience as a U.S. Olympic Committee Intern as a communications intern for USA Basketball in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Personal:
Mattie resides in Savoy, Illinois, with his wife, Dr. Laura Mattie, an associate professor in the Speech and Hearing Science Department on the UI campus, and their twin daughters, Willa and Sammie.
