Chase Louthan is in his 10th season on the Illinois staff in 2026 and second as head football athletic trainer. He was hired as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2017.
During his first season as head football athletic trainer in 2025, Louthan helped the Illini to nine wins, a victory over #23 Tennessee in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl, and a final ranking of #25 in the Coaches Poll.
Louthan came to Illinois from Texas Tech, where he was a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the football for two seasons. Prior to Texas Tech, he completed athletic training internships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports/Southlake Hospital and the Minnesota Vikings.
Louthan attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in kinesiology with a focus in athletic training in December 2014 while serving as a student assistant athletic trainer at EIU and the University of Illinois. He completed a master's degree in sports management at Texas Tech University in May 2017.
Louthan resides in the Champaign area with his wife, Karissa, son, Harrison, and daughter, Scarlett.
