Brett Moore is in his 10th year at Illinois in 2025 and fifth as the primary media contact for the Fighting Illini football program, including head coach Bret Bielema, staff, and student-athletes. He joined the Fighting Illini in September 2015 as an assistant director and was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics, Athletics Communication in 2021.
Moore previously served in a secondary role for the football team before becoming the primary contact for head coach Bret Bielema in 2021. He has also worked as the contact for the Fighting Illini baseball (2016-2020), women's golf (2020-21), and women's basketball programs (2018) during his time in Champaign.
In Bielema's four seasons at Illinois, Moore has led promotional efforts for 11 All-Americans, 11 NFL Draft picks (entering the 2025 NFL Draft), and two bowl teams. During the 2023 season, he led Illinois' football communications team to the program's first ever Super 11 award, presented by the Football Writers Association of America. The Super 11 award identifies and rewards the sports information departments and programs that exemplified excellence in media relations.
In 2019, Moore was selected to serve as the Press Officer for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. He spent the summer of 2019 with USA Baseball, including trips to Taiwan and Japan for international series with the countries' top collegiate players. During the trips he facilitated requests with international media, ran team and USA Baseball social media accounts, and provided information and contact for players' NCAA programs. The 2019 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team featured 12 first round MLB Draft picks, including the top five drafted players, and eight selections in the second round.
Moore came to Champaign after spending two years at Stanford working with the baseball, football, and women’s swimming and diving programs. He was a part of two bowl trips with the football team, including the 2014 Rose Bowl Game, a Super Regional appearance with the baseball team, and two top-three finishes at the NCAA Championships with the women’s swimming and diving team.
Prior to Stanford, Moore spent two years on the athletics communication staff at Harvard. His time in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was highlighted by a trip to the 2012 NCAA Tournament with the men’s basketball team.
Moore graduated with a degree in business administration from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he was the starting second baseman and leadoff hitter for the 2010 national championship baseball team as a senior. He earned a master’s degree in recreation, sport and tourism from the University of Illinois in 2012.
He and his wife, Grace, have one daughter, Camille.
