
Brit Miller to Serve as Honorary Captain vs. UAB

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Former Illinois linebacker Brit Miller will serve as the Fighting Illini's honorary captain for the season opener vs. UAB. Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday at 8 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network.
Miller was a standout linebacker for the Fighting Illini from 2005-08, totaling 283 tackles, 33.0 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, three interceptions, and four forced fumbles. The Decatur, Illinois, native played a key role with 62 tackles for the 2007 Illini team that played in the Rose Bowl game before a First Team All-Big Ten season in 2008 when he posted 132 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 6.0 sacks.
Miller was a team captain as a senior, before a four-year career in the NFL. He played in 35 NFL games for the San Francisco 49ers (2009) and St. Louis Rams (2010-12).
Miller is now the head football coach at St. Theresa High School in his hometown of Decatur.
