CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – For the second consecutive season, Illinois' Kenta Miyoshi was named an Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Wednesday.
After being tabbed as a CSC First Team Academic All-American in 2025, Miyoshi earned Second Team honors in 2026. He is the second student-athlete in program history to be a two-time Academic All-American, joining Chris Martin, who secured Academic All-America Second Team status for three consecutive years from 2003-05.
A native of Tokyo, Japan, Miyoshi was one of 18 Division I student-athletes who received CSC Academic All-America status in 2026. He was the lone Big Ten student-athlete to earn a spot on either the first or second teams, while four other student-athletes from the conference were selected to the third team: Ozan Baris (Michigan State), Alexander Bernard (Ohio State), Aidan Kim (Ohio State), and Mert Oral (Michigan).
Miyoshi finished his Illini career with 100 total singles victories and earned unanimous All-Big Ten First Team recognition in back-to-back seasons during the 2025 and 2026 campaigns. Named the 2025 Big Ten Player of the Year, Miyoshi went 26-11 on the singles courts in 2026 while finishing with a career Big Ten singles record of 22-4.
Climbing as high as No. 6 in the ITA singles rankings and No. 2 in the ITA doubles rankings, Miyoshi was a two-time ITA Singles All-American with the Orange and Blue and completed his degree in strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship in May.
