Illinois Men's Tennis to Serve as Host Site for 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois will serve as one of 14 host sites for 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association revealed. The Fighting Illini will host No. 2-seeded Stanford, No. 3-seeded Cornell, and No. 4-seeded Ole Miss at Atkins Tennis Center from Jan. 22-23.
Illinois will take on the Rebels in the opening round on Jan. 22, while Stanford will face Cornell. Depending on the results of both matches, the Orange and Blue will play either the Cardinal or the Big Red on Jan. 23.
ITA Kickoff Weekend serves as the qualifying event for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, which will be hosted by Clemson and South Carolina from Feb. 12-16. While all teams are guaranteed two matches, the lone squad to go 2-0 from each host site during ITA Kickoff Weekend will progress to National Indoors.
The Illini are serving as hosts for ITA Kickoff Weekend for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Illinois earned the opportunity to host ITA Kickoff Weekend after finishing No. 14 in the 2026 end-of-year team rankings.
The other host sites include Virginia, Texas, Wake Forest, TCU, Ohio State, Mississippi State, Arizona, LSU, Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas A&M, Georgia, and UCF. Clemson and South Carolina have automatically qualified as the hosts of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
