CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Fighting Illini Women's Tennis is set to cap off the 2026 regular season with an East Coast road trip, facing Rutgers and No. 45 Maryland this weekend. Illinois will take on Rutgers on Friday at 11 a.m. CT and Maryland on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The No. 58-ranked Illini head to the east coast with 5-6 marks in conference play this season after dropping their last two conference contests to top-20 ranked opponents in UCLA and USC. While Illinois is 10-12 in dual play, that record is somewhat deceiving as nine of its 12 losses on the year were against top-25 ranked opposition.
Rutgers heads into the final weekend of the regular season with a 1-10 record in Big Ten play, its lone victory coming over Minnesota in late March. The Scarlet Knights are 8-13 overall this season.
No. 45 Maryland has been strong in dual play this year with a 15-5 overall record and a 7-4 reading in league play. The Terrapins come off a road sweep over No. 64 Michigan State on Sunday.
Following this weekend's action, the top 12 teams from the league will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the 2026 Big Ten Tournament starting on April 23.
