Illinois Falls in Series Finale to New Orleans

RECAP

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini fell to New Orleans, 8-7, in 10 innings in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Illinois Field.

Aidan Flinn was fantastic on the mound across his first four innings, retiring the first 13 batters he faced while finishing with a career-high 10 strikeouts. He fanned seven straight hitters between the first and third frames, striking out the side in the second and third innings.

Kyle Schupmann recorded two hits, while Michael Farina and Will Johannes both tallied two RBI. Collin Jennings hit his team-leading ninth home run of the season on his 440-foot long ball in the fourth, while AJ Putty's homer in the eighth was his fifth of the year and his first at Illinois Field.
