CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois dive is set for the Zone C Diving Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich., hosted by Eastern Michigan at the Jones Natatorium, March 9-11. Fans can tune in to watch the divers on the EMU Athletics YouTube channel.
The divers will compete on the one-meter springboard on Monday at 12 p.m. CT, and the three-meter springboard on Tuesday at the same time. Wednesday will feature the platform diving event, beginning at 4:15 p.m. CT.
All six Illinois divers are entered in the competition, highlighted by Bethany Mercer competing in all three events. The top 18 divers in prelims advance to finals.
Also this week, Illinois swim will be heading to the CSCAA National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Fla., from March 12-14, represented by Maggie Adler, Martina Cibulkova, Chloe Diner, Liv Dorshorst, Kayla Duran, Sara Jass, Michelle Kaner, Kalina Nikolaeva, Sophia Paduano, Adelaide Reaser, Isabella Wilhelm, and Bella Wojtowicz.
Hosted at the FAST Facility, each day will feature a preliminary session at 8:30 a.m. CT, and finals at 5 p.m. CT.
Last time out, at the Big Ten Championships, Diner set new school records in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.26) and 100 butterfly (53.50), while Sophia Paduano posted a new program record in the 50 backstroke (24.68).
