Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. — Illinois softball (5-9, 0-0 B1G) fell to NC State (8-7, 0-0 ACC), 4-0, on Sunday afternoon, in its final outing of The Raleigh Times tournament. The Orange and Blue finish 2-2 on the weekend, with one game being canceled due to weather.
How It Happened
Abby Sabalaskey got the nod in the circle for the third time this weekend, allowing just three hits and one earned run in six innings pitched. The lefty falls to 4-2 on the season, after notching two prior wins on the weekend.
Alaina Miller and Ady Kiddy notched clutch catches in the first and third innings, respectively, limiting NC State's ability to get on base, as the Wolfpack added just one hit through four frames.
A Morgen Talley home run put NC State ahead by one and broke the scoring drought in the bottom of the fifth, and a double steal from the Wolfpack brough Sarah Johnson home to score a second. Consecutive RBI singles from Kendall Simmers and Lily Livingston finished off a four-run fifth inning for NC State.
Sabalaskey retired the side in order in the sixth, and Adisyn Caryl led off the seventh with a base hit, but the Illini could not mount a comeback, falling 4-0 to the Wolfpack.
