CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois swim and dive heads to West Lafayette, Indiana, for its second Big Ten dual meet of the season and first meet of the 2026 calendar year against Purdue on Saturday, January 10. Events are set to begin at 10 a.m. CT inside the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The full Illinois team returns to action for the first time since Dec. 6, when it competed at Wisconsin. Against the Badgers, Michelle Kaner took home gold in the 100 backstroke (55.13) and Sara Jass emerged victorious in the 200 IM (2:00.04). With a new personal-best time, Chloe Diner pushed her way up to seventh in program history in the 100 butterfly (54.59) and the 400 medley relay team of Eva Allan, Diner, Kayla Duran, and Sophia Paduano swam the third-best time in school history (3:40.03).
Despite falling to Purdue last season, 171-129, the Fighting Illini had a host of strong performances, including a top-ten program mark in the 100 butterfly (55.24) and an event victory in the 100 breaststroke from Chloe Diner (1:01.85). Sara Jass also won the 200 IM and set an ARC pool record, finishing in 1:59.77.
Scouting the Opponent
Purdue most recently competed at Ohio State's midseason meet, where they finished tied for fourth, earning 1,262 points over four days. Swimmers Caitlin Hurley, Lara Phipps, Adele Sands and Hannah Hill took down Purdue's 400 freestyle relay record that had stood since 2011, with a time of 3:16.68. Diver Daryn Wright swept the springboard events, scoring a 316.00 on one-meter and a 370.75 on the three-meter.
