CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois completed day one of its meet against Nebraska and Iowa on Friday evening. The Fighting Illini kicked off the meet in strong fashion, taking both gold and bronze in the 400 medley relay. Sophia Paduano, Kayla Duran, Sophia Yousuf, and Maggie Adler won the event in 3:46.20, just over fourth tenths of a second ahead of Iowa's A team. Michelle Kaner, Chloe Diner, Martina Cibulkova, and Eva Allan finished in third, with a time of 3:48.42.
The 1000 freestyle proved to be another tight battle as Liv Dorshorst went back and forth with Riley Miklos of Nebraska for silver. Dorshorst emerged ahead, taking second place in 10:17.57.
In the 100 IM, Chloe Diner won gold in a blistering 55.80, just a few tenths off her own program second-best time (55.32). Teammate Sophia Yousuf finished in fourth, earning the tenth-best swim for the event in Illinois history (58.78)
In the final swim event of the evening, Martina Cibulkova, Sara Jass, Eva Allan, and Maggie Adler took bronze in the 400 freestyle relay (3:27.83).
In the three-meter dive, Elle Crisostomo finished tied for fourth with Kelsey Clairmont of Nebraska, scoring a 272.20. Freshman Amelia Semple came just behind in sixth, scoring a 260.80 in her first event as an Illini. Matilda Garcia came in seventh (252.20).
Later in the evening, the Illini also competed on the one-meter boards. Garcia led the Fighting Illini, scoring a 251.70 to place sixth. Crisostomo placed eighth (243.45) and Semple came in tenth (215.85).

Illinois will close out the meet against Nebraska and Iowa on Saturday, January 17. Swimming begins at 10 AM CT from the ARC Pool, while platform diving starts at 11 AM CT in Iowa City, Iowa.
