CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois swim and dive travels to Madison, Wisconsin, for its first Big Ten dual meet of the year against Wisconsin. Action is set to commence at noon CT from the Soderholm Family Aquatic Center.
The Fighting Illini return to action after a host of strong performances at the Hawkeye Invitational midseason meet, highlighted by senior Sara Jass taking the school record in the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 2:12.90. Kalina Nikolaeva catapulted her way to second all-time in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.60 during time trials on day one.
On the boards, Bethany Mercer earned the ninth-highest score in program history on the platform dive with a 235.45, also an NCAA zone cut for the junior. Carlie Rose won the B final in the platform dive with a score of 221.85.
The Illini last battled the Badgers on February 6, 2021, falling 243-57. During the meet, Abigail Cabush achieved what was then a program-best time in the 200 freestyle, swimming a 1:47.90. Cabush remains the second-fastest individual in program history in the event, behind only Sydney Stoll.
