CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini continue their fall schedule with the Big Ten Individual Championships in Madison, Wis. Junior Jeremy Zhang will be the lone Fighting Illini representative at the competition, which runs from Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Wisconsin's Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
Zhang is set to play in his fourth tournament of the fall after competing at the Harvard Chowderfest (Sept. 19-21), Hope College RSM Invite (Oct. 3-5), and ITA Midwest Regional (Oct. 16-21).
In his most recent collegiate appearance at the ITA Midwest Regional, Zhang earned a first-round win over DePaul's Andy Hadziabdic before falling to No. 61-ranked Michael Minasyan of Wisconsin in the second round of play.
Zhang, seeded No. 5-8, received a first-round bye and will take on either Northwestern's Vincent Yang or Nebraska's Niels Van Der Sijs in the second round of singles action.
Zhang will be joined at the Big Ten Individual Championships by student-athletes from Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, and Wisconsin.
