MADISON, Wis. – Fighting Illini junior Jeremy Zhang advanced to the singles quarterfinals at the Big Ten Individual Championships while tallying two total wins at the event.
Zhang posted back-to-back straight-set triumphs before falling to the competition's #4 seed in the quarterfinals.
After receiving a first-round bye, the Australia native opened his run with a 7-6(1), 6-2 decision against Northwestern's Vincent Yang on Friday afternoon. Saturday's third round of action saw Zhang defeat Wisconsin's Tomas Zlatohlavek in 6-4, 6-2 fashion.
His time in the main draw came to a close on Saturday afternoon following a two-set loss to the Badgers' Patrik Meszaros.
