Stoll Wins Three Individual Events in Illinois Swim and Dive’s Heartbreaking Loss to Iowa, 151-149

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Illinois swim and dive team lost their dual to Iowa 151-149 on Friday (Jan. 17). Sydney Stoll won every single event she swam including leading off the program's 10th-fastest 400 medley relay to start the day with teammates Kayla Duran, Chloe Diner and Isabella Wilhelm (3:43.07). She later went on to sweep all three individual events winning the 100 freestyle (50.81), 100 butterfly (54.92) and 100 backstroke (55.09).

BETWEEN THE LANES

Sara Jass topped the 200 freestyle podium (1:51.58) and took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.58) and 200 IM (2:02.58). Wilhelm touched second in the 50 freestyle (23.80) and 100 freestyle (52.10).

The freshman duo of Diner (1:02.57) and Duran (1:20.61) took second and third in the 100 breaststroke, respectively. A junior duo of Alexis Wendel (2:05.86) and Adelaide Reaser (2:07.58) replicated this result in the 200 butterfly with Wendel taking second and Reaser earning third.

Liv Dorshorst earned second in the 500 freestyle (5:01.98) and third in the 1000 freestyle (10:18.60).

ON THE BOARDS

Dani O'Kelly led the Orange and Blue divers on both the three-meter and one-meter boards. She placed third in the three-meter dive (269.65) and fourth on the one-meter dive (266.20).

Carlie Rose placed sixth on the three-meter boards with a personal-best score (266.60), Bethany Mercer placed seventh (260.05), Matilda Garcia placed eighth (255.50), Elle Crisostomo placed ninth (244.70) and Elleka Boeres placed 10th (223.00). On the one-meter dive Crisostomo placed fifth on a personal-best score (256.30), Mercer placed sixth (249.60), Rose placed seventh (248.10) and Boeres placed eighth (248.10).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Kuehne, Laurel Bludgen, Wilhelm and Molly Yetter closed out the meet with a win clocking in at 1:33.97.
