CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois cross country senior Halle Hill is set to run in her first NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Madison, Wis. Hill qualified last week at the NCAA Midwest Regionals, where she finished sixth overall in the 6k with a time of 19:55.74. With this qualification, she became the first Illini women's cross country runner to make it to the NCAA Championships since Olivia Howell in 2022.
Hill has been among the team's best finishers all season, but she really started to hit her stride during the second half of the year, as she's been the Illini's top finisher in each of the last three races. Hill's fastest time of the season came at the Big Ten Championships, where she collected Second-Team All-Big Ten Honors for her 16th-place finish in the 6k with the school record (19:43.7). This was a seven-place improvement at the Big Ten Championships from a year ago.
Fans can tune in to watch Halle Hill at 9:20 a.m. CT on ESPNU.
