Diner Swims a Top-10 Program Mark in Wins Over Vanderbilt and Indiana State

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois swim and dive team completed the House of Paign Invite on Saturday (Oct. 26) from the ARC Pool. Freshman Chloe Diner was back at it again with another top-10 program mark in the all-or-nothing 50 breaststroke super final where each team enters their top swimmers and the winner earns five team points; she won with the program's seventh-fastest time (29.39). She later took gold in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.57).

Illinois defeated Vanderbilt by a score of 232-101 and sunk Indiana state 250.5-135.5.

BETWEEN THE LANES

The 400 medley A team of freshman Sophia Paduano, Diner, seniors Sydney Stoll and Laurel Bludgen started the day off with a silver medal for Illinois (3:48.08).

Stoll won the all-or-nothing 50 butterfly super final (25.04) and the 200 freestyle event title (1:50.12). Sophomore Liv Dorshorst edged out a win in the 500 freestyle by .14 seconds (4:59.41), freshman Taylor Judas took the bronze medal (5:04.00).

Junior Sara Jass won the 400 IM (4:20.17) and placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.43). Sophomore Kalina Nikolaeva touched third in the 200 backstroke (2:05.71).

The 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Isabella Wilhelm, senior Logan Kuehne, Stoll and senior Molly Yetter closed out the meet with a silver medal (1:35.53).

ON THE BOARDS

The Orange and Blue sophomore quartet of divers again claimed the top-4 positions in the three-meter dive today. Elle Crisostomo won the gold (260.25), Dani O'Kelly took silver (258.30), Bethany Mercer earned bronze (247.58) and Matilda Garcia placed fourth (233.10).
