CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois swimming and diving team heads to West Lafayette, Indiana to compete in their final regular-season dual meet against Purdue at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center. Competition at Purdue will begin at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday, January 29th.
LAST TIME OUT
The Fighting Illini dropped to 1-2 in conference competition last Saturday in a loss to Big Ten opponent Nebraska 178-122. The Orange and Blue competed hard, winning both relay events. The cornerstone of the meet was when senior Abigail Cabush broke the pool record in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:48.68. Contibutions were also made by Cara Bognar, who reached the podium in all of her events, and Laurel Bludgen, who placed first in the 50 freestyle in addition to being a part of both relay wins.
SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
The Boilermakers come into this weekend with a 1-2 record in Big Ten Dual Meets with a 2-4 record overall. In their last competition, Purdue fell to #13 Indiana (120-168) and beat Indiana State 190-106 the week before.Â
The last time the Fighting Illini and Boilermakers met was on 1/16/22, where the Fighting Illini fell 122-173. This week's dual marks both Purdue and Illinois' last dual meet before heading to the Big Ten Championships, which are being held from February 16-19 in Madison, Wisconsin.
