
Cross Country Set To Compete At B1G Championships Sunday

Men's 8K begins at 9:45 a.m. CT ; women's 6K to follow at 10:45 a.m.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini cross country begins postseason competition with Big Ten Championships on Sunday, November 3, hosted by Ohio State. The men's 8K is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. CT, and the women's 6K will follow at 10:45 a.m. CT.

About The Ohio State University Golf Club
The cross country course at The Ohio State University Golf Club starts and finishes near the driving range. It heads out 1000 meters before connecting with a 2000m loop that the women will run 2 times and the men 3 times.
A Look At The Competition
Women's 6K
Of the 14 teams set to contest the women's conference championships 6K race, eight of them are nationally ranked in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll. Ranked opponents competing against No. 19 Illinois for the conference crown include No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 8 Michigan, No. 9 Michigan State, No. 18 Penn State, No. 21 Ohio State, No. 23 Indiana and No. 25 Minnesota.
Men's 8K
The men's 8K Big Ten Championship field also features some of the country's best teams. Four nationally-ranked programs will contest the men's 8K, including No. 9 Purdue, No. 13 Indiana, No. 14 Wisconsin and No. 17 Michigan. Teams competing out of the Midwest Region along with Illinois include Purdue, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.

Illinois Women Move Up In National Poll, Top Midwest Region Ranks
Illinois women's cross country moved up to No. 19 in the latest USTFCCCA National Rankings announced on Tuesday, October 22. In the Midwest Region rankings announced the day prior, the Illini were voted the No. 1 team in regional. This is the first time the Illini women have been ranked No. 1 in the Midwest since October 26, 2009.
Last Time Out
Illinois Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth At Pre-National Invitational
No. 20 Fighting Illini women's cross country placed sixth at the Pre-National Invitational at Indiana State on October 19. The Illini finished with a team score of 268, beating out both No. 17 Ole Miss (376) and No. 11 Boise State (383). No. 20 Illinois topped four USTFCCCA nationally ranked opponents in total, also defeating No. 26 Boston College (358) and No. 30 Oklahoma State (380).
The Illini were led once again by junior Rebecca Craddock. Her fourth time this season crossing first for the Orange and Blue, Craddock timed 20:44.2 and finished 33rd overall.
Second to finish for the Illini was junior Allison McGrath, who clocked a new 6K personal-best finish time of 20:55.4 and placed 45th. Sophomore Madison Marasco finished third for Illinois and 55th overall, recording a season-best 6K finish time of 20:59.0. Sophomore Emma Milburn set a new 6K PR with a finish time of 21:02.6 and placed 62nd. Freshman Emma Wilson crossed fifth for Illinois, timing 21:12.5 and finishing 78th overall.
Illini Men Place Second At Bradley Pink Classic
Illinois men's cross country took second place at the Bradley Pink Classic on October 18 at Newman Golf Course. Redshirt sophomore Irwin Loud placed second overall in the 8K red race, clocking a new personal-best finish time of 24:11.6.
Loud was the first runner representing their program to cross. He came in only behind Dustin Hatfield, who was competing unattached.
Next to finish for the Illini was redshirt senior Zach Dale. Dale also recorded a new personal-best and secured a top-10 finish, timing 24:29.5 to place ninth.
Sophomore Colin Yandel was the third Illini to finish. Yandel timed an 8K PR of 25:01.0 to place 31st. Sophomore Logan Hall finished 44th, recording a finish time of 25:16.9. Rounding out the Illini scorers was freshman Jack Roberts, who finished the 8K in 25:16.9 to place 53rd.
UI Women's Squad Finishes Third At Bradley
Illini women's cross country finished third at the Bradley Pink Classic held at Newman Golf Course on October 18. Redshirt sophomore Caroline Fix was the first Illini to cross, timing a new personal-best finish of 21:22.0 to place 10th overall in the women's 6K red race.
The next two Illini to finish placed in the top-20 overall and each clocked 6K PR's. Senior Grace Rogers finished second for the team and 17th overall, clocking a new personal-best 6K finish time of 21:35.5. Junior Katie Stapleton crossed not long after, placing 19th overall and recording a new 6K PR finish of 21:37.4.
Freshman Katie Hohe finished fourth for the Illini, timing 22:03.0 and placing 33rd. Rounding out the Illinois scorers was sophomore Lauren Katz, who finished the 6K in 22:21.1.
Up Next
The Illini continue on in the postseason, competing at the Midwest Regional Championships hosted by Oklahoma State on Friday, November 15. The women's 6K will lead off, beginning at 10:30 a.m. CT. The men's 10K will follow and is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. CT.
