CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois swimming and diving team will jump back in the pool for a two-day double dual meet against Florida International and Miami in Miami, Fla. Meet competition is set to begin at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 1 and at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
Last Time Out
The Illini hit the road after having a week away from the pool. The Orange and Blue earned victories over Illinois State (210-90) and Southern Illinois (176-123) at home on Oct. 17. Illinois tied Big Ten foe Michigan State (150-150) on Oct. 19.
Scouting the Golden Panthers
Florida International enters the weekend with a 2-3 dual record on the season. The Panthers began the season with a loss to Florida and a victory over Miami. Most recently, FIU defeated Tulane, but fell to Rice and Denver at the Dual-A-Pool-Ooza in Miami, Fla., two weeks ago.
The Illini and the Panthers will meet for the third time in program history and are knotted up with a win and a loss each in the series. On Nov. 7, 2015 the Fighting Illini defeated FIU 197-174, while FIU won 251.5-166.5 on Nov. 3-4, 2017.
Scouting the Hurricanes
Miami holds a 0-6 dual record on the season. The Hurricanes have lost to Florida, FIU, and most recently, Navy, Johns Hopkins, Towson and George Washington in a multi-team meet two weeks ago.
The Orange and Blue will go head-to-head with the Hurricanes for the second time in program history. Miami holds a 1-0 lead in the series, as they defeated Illinois 96-90 on Jan. 8, 2010.
