Illini Back in Action in Miami

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team will look for its first road win of the season, as the team travels south to Miami, Florida, for a two-day meet against Florida International. Meet competition is set to begin on Friday, November 3, at 4 p.m. CT and conclude Saturday (Nov. 4) afternoon at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.

The two teams last met back in 2015, as the Illini earned a narrow, come-from-behind victory (197-174) over the Panthers in Miami. The victory snapped FIU's fifteen regular season dual meet win streak and handed the Panthers their first home loss since the 2012-13 campaign.

Florida International enters the weekend with a 3-3 record on the season. After beginning the year with wins over Miami, North Florida and Georgia Southern, the Panthers fell to Rice, Tulane and Denver a week ago at the annual Dual-A-Pool-Ooza in New Orleans.

LAST TIME OUT

UI hits the road coming off a busy weekend of competition. After suffering losses at home to Big Ten opponents Rutgers (158-140) and Northwestern (188-110), the Orange and Blue traveled to Normal, Illinois, for a double dual meet against Illinois State and Southern Illinois. The Illini fell the Red Birds (155-143) and the Salukis (176.50-123.50).

NEXT UP

Following the two-day meet in Miami, the Illini will get set for the annual Missouri Invitational, held in Columbia, Missouri, Nov. 16-18.
