Champaign, Ill. - After posting a 1-1 record during last weekend's meet at Northwestern, the Fighting Illini swimming and diving team will set off on the road once again. This time the Illini will travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, to take on Indiana State on Saturday, November 5. Meet competition will begin at 1 p.m.

"The team is doing well and training well right now," said head coach Sue Novitsky. "We have some athletes coming back from illness, but I expect them to be recovered and competing hard this weekend. We keep making great adjustments in a lot of our races and we are looking forward to more opportunities to keep improving."

This season marks the first ever for Indiana State's women swimmers and divers, as the school launched the program last summer. The Sycamores carry an 0-2 record in dual meet competition early this season, falling to both Notre Dame (179-81) and Illinois State (176.5-85.5). The team has also competed in a relay meet in South Bend, Indiana, as well as the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet.

"The Indiana State team has been racing very well this fall," said Novitsky. "I expect them to come out and race tough, so we will definitely have to stay focused and execute in our races. I am looking forward to seeing their new facility and competing in a fast pool."

Last Time Out

In the first road meet of the season a week ago, the Illini traveled to Evanston, Illinois, and came away with mixed results. The team defeated Rutgers by a score of 166-132, but fell to Northwestern 178-122.    

Next Up

Following the trip to Indiana, senior Gabbie Stecker and junior Samantha Stratford will travel to Indianapolis to take part in the Big Ten All Stars vs. USA National Team competition on November 12-13. The team will then head to compete in the annual Missouri Invitational, which will be held from November 17-19 in Columbia, Missouri.
