The Illinois swimming and diving team swam in grueling back to back meets this weekend. After a tri-meet hosted by Miami (Oh) on Friday, the Fighting Illini headed to Indiana to face the Hoosiers on Saturday. In the end, Indiana came out on top taking a 168-121 victory.

Freshman Marissa Clapp improved on her personal best set just the day before by taking first the 200 breast in 2:19.74. Jessica Rothenberg captured third place in the 200 fly in 2:07.93 setting a personal best as well.

Illinois' relays were on top as usual coming in first in the 200 free relay comprised of Barbie Viney, Michelle Grandcolas, Rebecca Poetz and anchor Meghan Farrell.

Overall, the Illini again came up just short on several races capturing a total of eight second place finishes.

On the board, the Illinois divers made a very nice showing. On the 3-meter Marina Mendoza took second with a score of 179.32 with Jackie Bain right behind her taking third with 169.72. In 1-meter diving, Bain took second (210.77) followed by Abbey Bernardo and Mendoza.

The Fighting Illini return to action in a single meet next Friday (11/11) against Illinois State.
