Champaign, Ill. - The University of Illinois Swimming and Diving team improved to 4-2 on the young season with a 173-123 victory over Oakland University at the Oakland University Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Illini won 10 of 16 events as the Orange and Blue hit the road for their first road trip of the season.

"Overall, I thought we swam really well today and we got faster as the day wore on," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "This was our first road trip of the season so it was nice to get the new kids the experience here in the early part of the season. We raced well and we swam some season best times."

Junior Crystal McAdam turned in another solid performance Saturday, winning three individual events for the Illini against the Grizzlies. McAdam won the 1000 free (10:14.67), 200 fly (1:53.28) and 500 free (5:04.16).

Sophomore Kirsten Koepcke was a double winner for the Illini, taking the 200 free (1:53.28) and 200 IM (2:09.79). She also finished second in the 100 free (53.15). Other first place finishers included senior Alison Czmarko in the 100 back (58.58), sophomore Trisha Lakatos in the 100 breast (1:06.15), senior Sara O'Fallon in the 200 back (2:07.77), junior Ilkay Dikmen in the 200 breast (2:19.83) and junior Lisa Fish won the 1-meter diving event (226.20).

Illinois returns to action on Nov. 22 when they travel to Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Invitational.
