Education:
Mungin completed her undergraduate degree at Florida A&M University and holds an MS.Ed. in Sports Administration from the University of Miami. Mungin is currently in study at the University of Illinois earning her Doctor of Education (EdD) in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with a concentration in Diversity and Equity in Education.
Responsibilities:
In her current capacity, Mungin oversees the comprehensive advancement of student-athletes, fostering their academic, personal, and professional growth through tailored support programs. These initiatives are integral to the Illini Way, guiding each student-athlete on their journey to championship success and a life of impactful leadership.
Past Experiences:
Previously, Mungin led Irwin Academics’ Learning Services, directing tutoring, academic coaching, and specialized services for student-athletes, while also driving departmental vision and strategic priorities to enhance the student-athlete experience. Mungin launched her career as an educator at James S. Rickards High School in Tallahassee, FL, progressing to roles such as GEAR UP coach and Learning Specialist and Associate Director of SAAS for the Florida State Seminoles. Her tenure at Florida State University included notable positions like campus advisor for the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., and Director of the LYFE program, earning recognition as FSU’s Outstanding Academic Advising Distinction in 2020-21.
Personal:
A native of Charleston/Beaufort, S.C., with deep roots in Florida, Mungin is actively engaged in professional communities, having served in leadership roles within the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and Women Leaders in College Sports.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mungin takes pride in her role as a devoted mother to Micah, a vibrant scholar and athlete in his own right.
