Illinois Cross Country Releases 2026 Schedule

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois head cross country coach Eric Johannigmeier announced the 2026 cross country schedule on Wednesday (July 15). There are a total of six meets this season, three in the regular season with one at home and three postseason meets.
The season begins with the lone home meet on Friday (Sept. 4) with the Fighting Illini Invitational at the Orange and Blue Golf Course in Savoy, Ill. The women will run the 4k starting at and the men will run a 6k.
The distance crew returns to action three weeks later on Friday (Sept. 25) for the first road trip of the season with the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. They will close out the regular season with Pre-Nationals on Friday (Oct. 16) in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Big Ten Championships are hosted by Wisconsin this year on Friday (Oct. 30) in Madison, Wis. The NCAA Midwest Regionals will take place on Friday (Nov. 13) in Ames, Iowa hosted by Iowa State. Finally, the NCAA Championships will be on Saturday (Nov. 21) back in Terre Haute, Ind. hosted by Indiana State.
