CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois women's basketball forward Cearah Parchment has been named to the Canada Basketball Senior Women's National Team training camp roster, Canada Basketball announced June 20. The 17-player camp runs June 20-28 in Montréal as Canada begins preparations for the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2026 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Aug. 17-23.
The selection marks Parchment's first call-up to Canada's Senior Women's National Team program and comes on the heels of a record-breaking freshman season with the Fighting Illini. The 6-foot-3 forward from Whitby, Ontario, is the youngest player on the training camp roster at 18 years old.
RECORD-BREAKING FRESHMAN SEASON AT ILLINOIS
Parchment capped one of the most decorated freshman seasons in Illinois women's basketball history in 2025-26, averaging 13.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 assists per game across the season while shooting 49.7 percent from 3-point range. Her 463 points broke the program's all-time freshman scoring record outright during the postseason. She also set the program's freshman single-season rebounding record with 252 boards, and her 12 double-doubles established a new Illinois freshman season record.
Among her standout performances, Parchment scored a career-high 26 points against No. 2 UCLA and followed with 25 points and 11 rebounds against No. 24 Nebraska, earning three Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors along the way. She tied the Illinois single-game steals record with 10 against Le Moyne on Nov. 30, 2025, in only the second points-steals double-double in program history. On Jan. 1, 2026, she posted 17 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks to help Illinois upset No. 7 Maryland 73-70, the program's highest-ranked Big Ten win in history.
Parchment earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and media, was a unanimous selection to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, and was recognized as one of ESPN's Top 10 Impact Freshmen nationally. Her nine double-doubles through the regular season led all Big Ten freshmen and ranked among the top five in the country among first-year players.
INTERNATIONAL PLAYING CAREER
Parchment has represented Canada at three FIBA youth tournaments, compiling career averages of 7.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game across 20 international appearances.
She burst onto the international scene at the 2023 FIBA U16 Women's Americas Championship, averaging 10.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in six contests while leading Canada to a silver medal. She posted double-doubles against Mexico and Puerto Rico in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively, and was named to the tournament's All-Star Five.
Parchment returned to the international stage the following summer at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup, averaging 3.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in seven games as Canada captured another silver medal.
Most recently, Parchment represented Canada at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia, averaging 8.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in seven games as Canada finished fourth.
