Four Illini Women’s Golfers Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Four Illinois women's golfers, Erica Lee, Brielle Mapanao, Anna Ritter and Victoria Zheng, were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Lee was recognized by CSC for the first time in her career and was also named Academic All-Big Ten for the second time in her career earlier this June. She is studying to earn her degree in advertising and finished the spring semester with an unblemished 4.0 GPA. A native of Arcadia, California, Lee notched a new career-best finish at the Badger Invitational this fall (8th), along with her new career-low round, a 68 (-4).
Mapanao earned CSC recognition for the second time in her career and first time at Illinois, after finishing the semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten roster this spring, and graduated with her bachelor's degree in kinesiology. On the course, the New South Wales, Australia, native finished her senior campaign strong, earning a career-best ninth place finish at the Big Ten Championships to lead the Orange and Blue.
Ritter earned the distinction for the third consecutive year, and was also named Academic All-Big Ten for the third time in her career on June 10. The New Albany, Ohio, native earned her undergraduate degree in communication, finishing her final semester with an unblemished 4.0 GPA. The veteran led the Fighting Illini with a 73.10 stroke average this season, and finishes with the sixth-best career stroke average in program history (74.57).
Zheng took home CSC honors for the second time, as well as Academic All-Big Ten recognition earlier this month. She graduated in May with her finance degree from the Gies College of Business, finishing out her academic career with a 4.0 spring semester GPA. The Markham, Ontario, Canada, native added four top-15 finishes this season, and matched her career-low round at the Badger Invitational, carding a 67 (-5).
To be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, nominees must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative 3.50 grade point average. For golf, eligible recipients must be in the lineup for 75% of an institution's team scoring events or been in the lineup for the conference championship event.
