
Gero-Holt Leads Heptathlon on Day Three of NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – The Illinois men's and women's field teams completed the third day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday (June 12) from Hayward Field. JaiCieonna Gero-Holt leads the heptathlon field after the first four events with 3,745 points while her teammate Meagan Humphries is in third with 3,629 points.
Gero-Holt's day was highlighted by her event win in the shot put where she threw the program's seventh-best mark of 14.98m (49-1 3/4). She also won the high jump with a clearance of 1.81m (5-11 1/4). Humphries sprinted to the event crown in the 200m (23.27) beating the rest of the field by nearly half a second.
Viktor Morozov finished in 13th place in the triple jump today to close out his Illini career, 15.98m (52-5 1/4). His season was highlighted by winning the gold medal in the triple jump at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and he ends as a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier and two-time Big Ten Champion. The men's team finished in 35th place with seven points while the women sit in eighth place with nine points.
