Six Illini Record Top-10 Program Marks at Illini Tune-Up

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The men's and women's track and field teams completed the final home event of the season on Friday (May 8) from Demirjian Park. Six Illini recorded top-10 program marks today to close out the regular season.
In the women's hammer throw, Phethisang Makhethe improved her program's second-best mark to 68.73m (225-6) while Jordan Koskondy improved her program's third-best mark to 67.54m (221-7).
Siun Quinn cleared the school's fourth-best high jump at 1.85m (6-0 3/4) while Anastasia Retsa cleared the program's fourth-best pole vault, 4.27m (14-0).
Oluwatomilayo Akintunde threw a new season-best shot put to move up to number five all-time in the program shot put list as she placed second today, 15.61m (51-2 3/4). Reece Ihenacho placed second in the discus on the school's eighth-best throw, 55.74m (182-10).
Sophia Beckmon won the long jump, 6.36m (20-10 1/2), Kennedy Ocansey won the high jump, 2.10m (6-10 3/4), Viktor Morozov won the triple jump, 15.50m (50-10 1/4) and Mia Morello won the pole vault, 4.48m (14-8 1/4).
On the track, Audrey Ginsberg broke the tape in the 1500m (4:37.84), Ashley Oliver set a new personal best in the 400m in her win (55.28) and Jackson Gilbert won the 800m (1:54.02).
The Illini honored 16 seniors today for senior day: Akintunde, Avril Andre, Kristine Blazevica, Joshua Daggett, Ginsberg, Makhethe, Brady Masters, Morello, Morozov, Ashley Oliver, Tadeas Placek, Rafael Raap, Retsa, Bara Sajdokova, Nora Wollen and Rose Yeboah.

The Orange and Blue turn their attention to the Big Ten Outdoor Championships next week on Friday-Sunday (May 15-17) in Lincoln, Neb.
