Illini Add Transfer Ona Riopedre

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini women's basketball head coach Shauna Green has announced the addition of Ona Riopedre (ON-uh REEOH-peh-dray) to the program. Riopedre - a rising junior - has signed a Big Ten Athletics Aid Agreement with the University of Illinois and is set to join the program beginning with the 2026-27 season
Riopedre is a 6'0' guard/forward from Barcelona, Spain. She has spent the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, New Jersey. Riopedre attended high school at Barcelona's CE Montseny.
Last season, Riopedre appeared in - and started - five games before missing the remainder of the campaign due to injury. During those appearances, Riopedre averaged 12.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 steal in 33 minutes per game.
As a freshman during the 2024-25 season, Riopedre started all 29 games while averaging 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals across 29.6 minutes per game. RVCC went 18-11 overall and 11-5 in region play. Riopedre was named to the All-Region XIX second team in addition to earning All Garden State Athletic Conference second team honors.
While at Raritan Valley CC, Riopedre majored in aeronautical engineering.
