
Fighting Illini Climb to Seventh After Round Two of NCAA Stanford Regional

STANFORD, Calif. — Illinois women's golf completed round two of the NCAA Stanford Regional on Tuesday evening, moving up three spots to finish the day in a tie for seventh, alongside Cal State Fullerton. As a team, Illinois carded a 283 (-1) in round two, one of just four squads under par for the round.
Senior Brielle Mapanao had a strong day on the course, climbing 22 places after notching a 69 (-2) in the second round. Mapanao added a trio of birdies on the back nine, before tallying three more on the front nine. Only nine golfers tallied a lower score than Mapanao on the day, and she now sits tied for 30th place.
Behind Mapanao on the Orange and Blue leaderboard is freshman Alexis Myers, who notched a 72 (+1), to rise eight places into a tie for 36th. Myers is tied for the fourth-best scoring average on par fives, with a 4.38.
Anna Ritter added a 77 (+6), while Victoria Zheng and Erica Lee each recorded an even 71 to rise 15 places, both knotted in 41st place. Zheng is tied for the fifth-most pars of the field, owning 25 through two rounds.
Top-ranked and No. 1 seed Stanford continues to hold the lead on its home course at 26 under, while Emma Bunch of New Mexico State has the individual lead at nine under par.
