EUGENE, Ore. – Illinois' four-match win streak came to a close in Seattle as the Fighting Illini fell to No. 20 Washington, 4-0, on Sunday. Action took place indoors from the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center as the Orange and Blue suffered just their second loss in Big Ten play.
Illinois moved to 9-8 on the season and 5-2 in Big Ten play with the setback. The Orange and Blue surpassed the midway point of the conference regular season with Sunday's match.
Washington won the day's doubles matches at No. 3 and 2, respectively, while No. 1 went unfinished. The Illini kept their same tandems but had swapped Cara Mester and Alice Xu to the top court and Tess Bucher and McKenna Schaefbauer to No. 2.
The Fighting Illini claimed wins in three of the six singles matches. However on the courts that Washington took the first set, the Huskies also won the second frame to secure the 4-0 win.
In order, singles decisions took place at No. 4, 3, and 2. Unfinished matches saw Schaefbauer (7-5), Alice Xu (6-4), and Cara Mester (6-4) each win the opening frame.

Illinois is back in action from the Atkins Tennis Center next weekend as Michigan (April 4) and Michigan State (April 5) come to town. Both matches are slated for 11 a.m. CT starts.
