Box Score URBANA, Ill - Illinois women's tennis concluded play in the 2026 ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Sunday with a 4-0 loss to [6] No. 12 Vanderbilt. The Fighting Illini have co-hosted the event with Northwestern the last two seasons.
Illinois moves to 2-5 on the young season with Sunday's loss. All five losses have come to ranked squads during the 2026 dual campaign.Â
No. 12-ranked Vanderbilt improved to 6-2 on the season.
Vanderbilt claimed the doubles point with 6-2 wins at No. 3 and 2, respectively. All three Commodore tandems own ITA top-50 doubles rankings.
No. 6 singles was the first done as Vanderbilt pushed its lead to 2-0 with No. 2 wrapping up shortly after with another VU victory.
For the second time in as many days, No. 67 McKenna Schaefbauer won a set off her top-30 ranked counterparts on the top court. After falling 6-3 in set one, she flipped the match with a 6-4 triumph in set two.
At No. 3 and 5, Illinois forced first-set tiebreakers but the Commodores would ultimately secure the frame.
Vanderbilt would clinch the 4-0 win with a victory at No. 5 singles.
