CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois women's gymnastics heads to Minneapolis for its Big 4 meet on Sunday, Mar. 1, at 3 p.m. CT. The meet will feature the Illini competing against No.11 Michigan State, No. 13 Minnesota, and Rutgers.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Against No. 5 UCLA at State Farm Center, Chloe Cho once again led the way for Illinois, turning in another impressive all-around performance. Cho captured the uneven bars title with a 9.950 and added a 9.800 on vault. She finished second in the all-around with a 39.550.Â
On bars, Illinois matched UCLA's event total with a season-high 49.250. Lyden Saltness followed closely behind Cho, scoring a 9.925 to anchor a strong rotation for the orange and blue.Â
MICHIGAN STATE
No. 11 Michigan State enters the Big 4 meet riding the momentum after a 197.300-196.850 win over No. 21 Ohio State. The Spartans have now won four straight Big Ten meets and own four scores of 197.000 or higher in as many weeks.Â
MSU posted its second-highest team score of the season (197.300) highlighted by season-highs on bars (49.400) and floor (49.600). The floor total ranks as the fifth-highest in program history and marked the team's best event score of the year.Â
On vault, Olivia Zsarmani stuck her Yurchenko 1.5 for a season-high 9.950 to claim the event title, while MaKayla Tucker followed with a 9.900. The Spartans swept the podium on the event and built an early lead.Â
MINNESOTAÂ
No. 13 Minnesota earned a strong road victory last Friday, defeating Washington, 196.950–196.300. The Gophers improved to 6-3 (4-2 Big Ten) with their second straight win.Â
Jordyn Lyden delivered a clutch performance on the road, capturing titles on both bars and floor, matching a 9.925. On vault, Teryn Crump soared to a 9.900, earning her third vault title of the season and tying her career-best.Â
Beam proved just as strong for the Gophers, with Ariana Ostrum and Brooklyn Rowray each posting 9.925 to anchor the rotation. Sarah Moraw added a 9.9000 continuing the teams steady momentum.Â
RUTGERSÂ
Rutgers Scarlet Knights battled No. 9 Michigan on the road, posting a 195.675. Rutgers opened on bars with a 48.625, led by Reagan Schenkel, who anchored the lineup with 9.800.Â
The Knights responded on vault with a strong 49.075, their second straight meet above 49.000. Gabrielle Dildy delivered a season-high 9.875, while Schenkel added a 9.850. On floor, Dildy continued her standout stretch by posting a 9.900 to tie for the event title, her third straight meet at 9.9 or higher. Delaney Adrian contributed a 9.800, and Emily Leese anchored with a 9.850 to bring the rotation total to 48.975.
