COLUMBIA, Mo. – Illinois finished third at the Mizzou Quad Meet on Friday night in Columbia, Mo., behind two event titles from sophomore Chloe Cho.
The Fighting Illini posted a 195.450, coming in behind No. 8 Missouri and Air Force while defeating Ball State.
"The team was very resilient tonight," said head coach Josh Nilson. "They stuck together and showed a lot of grit. We are proud of them. We had a few unnecessary mistakes, but the team is excited to get back to it on Sunday."
The Orange and Blue began the night on bars, combining for a 48.800. Freshman Skylar Ray Dixon tied her career-high with a 9.775, while Cho tallied a team-best 9.850 for the Illini.
On beam, Cho led the way once again with a 9.900, which saw her secure the event title in a three-way tie for first. Summer Clancy and Olivia Coppola each claimed a 9.800 on the event, which tied for the second-best score on the team and the ninth-highest mark among all four squads.
After the meet reached the halfway point, the Illini transitioned to floor, which saw Illinois secure its highest score of the night (48.950). Eden King and Tali Joelson each tied their career-highs of 9.900 and 9.875, respectively, while Cho's 9.925 was good for a four-way split of the event title.
The final rotation of the night on vault featured a team-best score of 9.850 from Clancy, with six Illini recording marks of 9.725 or better.
