ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 25 Illinois dropped its ranked road contest at No. 8 Michigan, 85-69, at the Crisler Center on Thursday night.
The Fighting Illini moved to 14-4 overall and 4-3 in conference action, with all three defeats coming against ranked opponents. The Wolverines improved to 15-2 overall and 6-1 against Big Ten competition.
The Orange and Blue trimmed a double-digit halftime deficit to just five points in the third quarter, though the Wolverines pulled away late en route to victory.
Berry Wallace continued her strong start to Big Ten play, finishing with 26 points while going 8-for-13 from the field, 2-for-4 from beyond the arc, and 8-for-9 from the free throw line. She now has 20+ points in five of the last six games, while she also tallied five rebounds, two blocks, an assist, and a steal.
Jasmine Brown-Hagger finished with a season-high 16 points while knocking down a career-best four 3-pointers. Scoring in double figures for the second time this season, Brown-Hagger grabbed four of her five rebounds on the offensive glass while also tacking on three assists and a steal.
Aaliyah Guyton added nine points, five assists, and two rebounds off the bench, while Cearah Parchment totaled six points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
No. 25 Illinois returns to State Farm Center on Sunday afternoon for an in-state matchup against Northwestern. The Illini and the Wildcats will square off at 2 p.m. CT for Illinois' First Responders Game on B1G+.
