KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Fighting Illini women's gymnastics team ended the Western Michigan Quad with a tally of 195.300 on Saturday, March 8, finishing third behind Central Michigan University (195.850) and Western Michigan University (195.775). The Orange and Blue finished ahead of Wilberforce (Ohio).
Starting on the beam, Lyden Saltness claimed the spot in a three-way tie for first with a score of 9.850, her career-high score on the apparatus. In two-way tie for third place was Ruthuja Nataraj (9.800).
Illinois continued onto the floor exercise, where Eden King put on an incredible performance. She earned her spot in another three-way tie for first and tied her career high of 9.900. Senior Emmalise Nock hit a 9.850, putting her in third alongside two other competitors.
King's successes continued with another 9.900 on vault, giving her the title. Olivia Coppola was followed suit, putting up a 9.800.
The Illini ended the night on the uneven bars, where Makayla Green (9.825) tied a Bronco for third to lead the Illini.
Illinois will return home for their final regular season meet against Northern Illinois on March 16. Competition begins at 1 p.m. CT.
